Monica AI Review 2026: Pricing, Credits and Honest Verdict
Monica AI is a browser extension and app that puts many AI models — GPT-5.5, Claude 4.7 Opus, Gemini 3.1 Pro and more — behind one subscription and one sidebar. It is worth paying for if you switch between models often and want one bill instead of three. Skip it if you only ever use one chatbot, or if you need team seats, because Monica has not launched a team plan yet.
One warning before you read further: most articles ranking for Monica AI still describe a “Pro / Pro+ / Unlimited” line-up. Monica’s own help documents no longer use those names. This AI Era review works from the vendor’s live pages only.
Key takeaways
- Monica’s current tiers are Free, Pro, Max and Ultra. The older Pro+ and Unlimited names still appear on third-party sites and on one of Monica’s own comparison pages, but its advanced credit rules list Free, Pro, Max and Ultra.
- Credits, not queries, are the real cost. A cheap model costs 0.2 credits per 1,000 tokens. A top reasoning model costs up to 40. That is a 200x spread on the same plan.
- One video clip can drain a month. Veo 3 costs 1,600 credits per generation. Pro includes 1,500 advanced credits a month.
- Credits reset on the 1st, not on your billing date. Subscribe on the 28th and you get three days of that month’s allowance.
- Monica does not publish subscription prices in any page text I could verify. Prices load through the browser only. Check monica.im/pricing before you buy.
What is Monica AI?
Monica is an all-in-one assistant from Butterfly Effect. It runs as a Chrome extension, a web app, desktop apps and mobile apps. Instead of subscribing to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini separately, you pick a model from a dropdown inside Monica.
The Monica homepage lists an unusually wide model roster: GPT-5.5, GPT-5.3 Codex, GPT-5.2, GPT-5.1, GPT-5 and GPT-4o; Claude 4.7 Opus, Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Claude Fable 5; Gemini 3.1 Pro, Gemini 3, Gemini 2.5 Pro and 2.5 Flash; plus Grok 3 and Mistral. For images it offers GPT Image 2, DALL·E 3, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, Flux, Ideogram 2.0, Imagen 3, Recraft and Stable Diffusion. For video: Sora 2, Veo 2, Pika and Stable Video Diffusion.
| Tier | Advanced queries | Advanced credits/month | Devices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 | 0 | 3 |
| Pro | 200/month | 1,500 | 5 |
| Max | Unlimited | 4,500 | 5 |
| Ultra | Unlimited | 20,000 | 10 |
All figures above come from Monica’s advanced credit rules page and its common questions page.
Monica AI pricing and the costs most reviews miss
Monica renders its pricing table with JavaScript. That means the numbers do not appear in the page source, and I will not repeat a price I could not verify on a vendor page. Third-party sites currently quote $8, $9.90, $16.60 and $39.90 for Monica — four different figures, several tied to plan names Monica has retired. Treat all of them as unconfirmed and read the live page.
What Monica does publish is more useful anyway:
Credit top-ups. 4,000 credits for US$10, 12,000 for US$30, or 40,000 for US$100. These are the only official Monica prices I could confirm in page text.
Per-model credit costs. A token is roughly three-quarters of a word, so 1,000 tokens is about 750 words of input or output. Text generation runs from 0.2 credits per 1,000 tokens (GPT-4o mini, Claude Haiku) to 20–40 credits for heavy reasoning models. Images cost 3 to 80 credits each. Video runs 25 to 1,600. Translation is 0.1–0.5 per 1,000 tokens; live voice is 2–80.
Here is what that spread means in practice. Pro’s 1,500 monthly credits buy roughly 500 Stable Diffusion XL images, by Monica’s own example. Spend the same 1,500 on a top reasoning model at 40 credits per 1,000 tokens and you get about 37,500 tokens — perhaps 28,000 words of output. One Veo 3 video would eat the entire allowance and leave you short. Your plan is not really “200 queries” or “unlimited queries.” It is a fuel tank, and the model you pick sets the fuel economy.
The reset trap. Monica confirms quotas reset “at 0:00 UTC on the 1st of each month” — a calendar month, not 30 days from your purchase. No article in the top three mentions this.
The trial cap. Advanced queries are limited to 100 uses during the trial period.
PDF limits. Files cannot exceed 50MB or 100,000 tokens, and image-only PDFs are rejected.
Features, grouped by what they replace
Multi-model chat. One sidebar, every major model, one bill. This is the core value and it works. If you already pay for two chatbots, Monica replaces both.
Reading and research. Web page summaries, YouTube video summaries, PDF chat and translation. The PDF ceiling above is the practical limit here.
Creation. Image generation across nine models, video generation across four, plus writing tools and a coding assistant. This is where credits vanish fastest.
Search and voice. AI search, live voice conversation and memory across chats.

I have not verified competitor prices against their vendor pages in this review, so I am not quoting them. Our 1min AI review covers the closest credit-based rival in detail.
Verdicts. ChatGPT Plus wins if you live inside one ecosystem and want predictable cost. Claude Pro wins for long-document work. Monica AI wins when model choice matters more than simplicity. 1min AI is the closest structural match and worth pricing against Monica directly.
Who should buy Monica
- Freelancers and marketers who compare outputs across models before publishing
- Anyone paying for two or more AI subscriptions right now
- Heavy browser workers who want summaries without switching tabs
- People who want image and video generation bundled with chat
Who should skip it
- Single-model loyalists — a flat plan is cheaper and simpler
- Teams needing seats and shared billing, which Monica does not sell yet
- Heavy video creators, given the 1,600-credit cost of a single Veo 3 clip
- Anyone who needs a guaranteed refund window outside the EU, UK or Turkey
Monica vs ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro, by job
Job: “I need one reliable assistant.” ChatGPT Plus. Fewer decisions, no credit maths, no allowance to track.
Job: “I need to pick the right model per task.” Monica. Drafting on a cheap model at 0.2 credits and reasoning on an expensive one at 40 is only possible when both sit behind one login.
Job: “I work with long contracts and reports.” Claude Pro. Monica’s 100,000-token PDF ceiling is a real constraint that a native Claude subscription does not impose.
Monica AI updates: recent changes and stale offers
Two things have shifted, and neither is well covered elsewhere.
The tier structure changed. Monica’s help documentation now describes Free, Pro, Max and Ultra. Widely-cited reviews still list Pro at $9.90, Pro+ at $19.90 and Unlimited at $39.90. Those plan names no longer appear in Monica’s credit rules.
Monica’s own pages are inconsistent. Its comparison page still advertises “Monica Unlimited” at $16.6/mo and lists GPT-4, Claude 3.5, Gemini 1.5 and Llama 3 — models and a plan name superseded by the current roster. The Spanish pricing page still carries “Pro Plus” and “Ilimitado” in its metadata. If you see $16.60 quoted anywhere, it traces back to this stale page.
Team plans still do not exist. Monica states team plans have not launched and invites feedback at teamsplan@monica.im. Any article selling you Monica seats is wrong.
Referral credits are permanent. Credits earned by referring friends do not expire.
How to cancel or downgrade Monica
Cancellation depends on where you subscribed:
- Desktop or web: unsubscribe from monica.im/billing
- iOS: manage it in Apple Settings, not in Monica
- Android: manage it in the Google Play Store
Your access continues until the subscription expires. To upgrade, Monica charges the difference rather than restarting billing.
On refunds, be realistic. Monica states subscriptions are generally non-refundable once access is granted. Discretionary refunds are calculated on unused credits and exclude any discount you received. Residents of the EU, UK and Turkey get a 14-day withdrawal right. Processing takes 1 to 15 business days. Promotional purchases are explicitly excluded. Several top-ranking reviews say simply “no refunds” — that is wrong in both directions.
FAQ
Is Monica free? Yes, there is a free tier. It includes zero advanced credits and a daily quota that resets at 0:00 UTC. Free accounts work on up to three devices. Advanced models and most generation features require a paid plan.
How much does Monica cost? Monica does not publish subscription prices in readable page text; the pricing table loads in-browser only. The only confirmed official prices are credit top-ups: 4,000 credits for US$10, 12,000 for US$30, and 40,000 for US$100. Check monica.im/pricing directly before buying.
What are advanced credits in Monica AI? Advanced credits pay for premium models. Costs range from 0.2 credits per 1,000 tokens on budget models to 40 on top reasoning models, 3–80 per image, and 25–1,600 per video generation. Pro includes 1,500 monthly.
Does Monica have a team plan? No. Monica confirms team plans have not launched yet and collects interest by email at teamsplan@monica.im. Individual plans allow 3 to 10 devices depending on your tier, but there is no shared billing or seat management for teams.
Can I get a refund from Monica? Generally no. Subscriptions are non-refundable once access is granted, though Monica considers requests at its own discretion based on unused credits. Residents of the EU, UK and Turkey have a 14-day withdrawal right. Promotional purchases are excluded entirely.
Verdict
Monica AI is a good deal for people who genuinely use multiple models and a poor deal for people who do not. The model roster is the widest of any consumer AI subscription, and one bill beats three. The honest negatives: no team plans, a calendar-month credit reset that punishes mid-month signups, and pricing you cannot verify without opening the site.
Next step: open monica.im/pricing, note the live Pro figure, then divide it by the number of AI subscriptions it would replace for you.
